The Power of Time

Reflecting on Time Management and Productivity

On August 26th, the Aligarh DM team gathered for an insightful event, The Power of Time—a subject highly relevant in today’s fast-paced world. The need to address productivity and time management became apparent during our members’ meeting on August 10th, which led to the creation of this event.

A special thanks to Sister Aiman, the head of the Aligarh DM team, for her outstanding leadership in planning and executing the event. We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Sister Zoha for allowing us to host the event in her home. Her kind hospitality and commitment to uniting the community made the occasion truly memorable. Thanks to her warm and welcoming environment, everyone had the chance to interact, share, and create lifelong memories.

Prior to the Event

In the two weeks leading up to the event, our dedicated team worked tirelessly to bring everything together. Every aspect—from distributing invitations, managing funds, selecting a theme, to assigning responsibilities—was well-organized. This preparation phase was filled with fun moments and opportunities for team bonding, bringing us even closer.

Sister Aina Nadeem from the social media team worked closely with Sister Aiman Hafeez to ensure the event’s material would be both engaging and enlightening. Sister Nameera Ahmad from Team Graphic Designing contributed her artistic talents to design the invitations and event poster, which perfectly reflected the theme and essence of the workshop.

We deeply appreciate Sister Iqra Shahid and Sister Yessa for their valuable ideas and suggestions, as well as all the senior members of Dawah Motivation for their continuous support, encouragement, and duas.

As the event approached, we held a final team meetup at Sister Zoha’s residence to add last-minute touches and review the content. This final gathering strengthened our cooperation and ensured everything was in place.

The Day of the Event

On the day of the event, 20 people gathered at Sister Zoha’s home, including 9 members and 11 newcomers. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation as the event began with an introduction to Dawah Motivation, followed by an engaging icebreaker that set the tone for the day.

Sisters Saman and Kulsoom’s decoration ideas and execution were outstanding, creating the perfect ambience for a memorable event. A big thanks to Sister Fatima for organizing the food and drinks, and ensuring that all attendees were well taken care of.

Many participants shared that they often feel overwhelmed by the constant stream of tasks and responsibilities, leading to burnout and decreased productivity. The event aimed to offer not only strategies but also a space for reflection—a chance to pause and consider how to reclaim our time and use it more meaningfully.

Sister Aiman then shared her insights, highlighting the importance of time and drawing powerful connections between time management and teachings from the Quran and Sunnah. Her reflections were both thought-provoking and practical, offering attendees a deeper understanding of time from an Islamic perspective and how it can be managed wisely for a fulfilling life.

Event Highlights

1. Understanding the Value of Time: Sister Aiman’s presentation emphasized the value of time as a finite resource that must be managed wisely. Her references to Quranic verses and Hadith added a spiritual dimension, making the topic resonate on a deeper level.

2. The Myth of Multitasking: The event included a session debunking the myth of multitasking, highlighting the benefits of single-tasking and focused work, which aligns with Islamic teachings on being deliberate and mindful in our actions.

3. Habit Stacking: Habit stacking involves linking a new habit to an existing one, making it easier to adopt. Consistently doing this helps new habits become automatic over time.

4. Prioritization and the Eisenhower Matrix: Participants were introduced to the Eisenhower Matrix, a practical tool for prioritizing tasks and focusing on what truly matters, avoiding distractions that waste time.

5. Digital Mindfulness: The importance of disconnecting from digital devices to reconnect with oneself was discussed, with mindfulness practices being highlighted as essential for maintaining focus and managing stress.

Throughout the event, Sister Laiba was actively capturing all the details with great dedication, ensuring that every moment was documented. Sisters Yusra and Munira played crucial roles in ensuring everything ran smoothly on the day, while Sister Kehkasha’sunwavering support and infectious energy kept the atmosphere lively.

After the Event

Post-event, we established a dedicated group for all attendees with the aim of building a close-knit community to foster sisterhood. This group will serve as a safe, judgment-free space where sisters can share challenges, seek advice, and support each other on their spiritual journeys. By connecting in this way, we hope to create a network of sisters who uplift one another, grow together, and cultivate a deep sense of belonging and unity.

Feedback

One of the most rewarding aspects of the event was hearing feedback from a sister who shared that the session made her realize what she had been missing in her daily life. This moment of reflection highlights the impact of the dawah message we sought to convey. Our goal was to inspire meaningful change and encourage a deeper understanding of how time, as a precious gift from ALLAH, should be managed in alignment with our faith. Her realization confirmed that the message resonated with those who attended, reminding us all of the importance of living each moment with purpose and mindfulness.

One attendee expressed, “It was an amazing session with a great speaker. It motivated us to use our time effectively.” Another participant felt a renewed sense of purpose, saying, “I really loved it. Very fantastic workshop. Thanks for inviting me.” A third attendee highlighted the balance between life and faith, saying, “After this session, I’m going to work on both my Deen and Duniya.”

The workshop encouraged introspection and a stronger relationship with ALLAH. As one attendee beautifully put it, “Build a strong relationship with ALLAH.”

Overall, feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many participants expressing their appreciation for the session. “Feeling motivated and more focused” was a common sentiment, reflecting the success of the event.

Conclusion

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where attendees had the chance to ask questions and share their thoughts. Feedback was gathered to improve future events, and food and beverages were served as the formalities came to an end. Before saying goodbye, attendees received thoughtful gifts as tokens of appreciation for their participation. Sister Fatima crafted personalized frames featuring her exquisite calligraphy, while handwritten letters and a small tint were also included.

In the days leading up to the event, we had daily meetings and calls to ensure everything went smoothly, reflecting our team’s dedication.

This time management and productivity event was a call to action for everyone to take charge of their time and use it wisely, as we will have to account for it in the hereafter. It was more than just a discussion on time management. Those who participated will undoubtedly continue to be inspired by the lessons learned on August 26th, striving to make the best of every moment in both their personal and professional lives. As we move forward, the insights and strategies shared will help us all lead more purposeful, productive, and spiritually enriching lives.
