Cardiff YC Dawah mission. Winter 2023

Our second visit to Cardiff after a year was an extremely productive trip. This time the brothers involved were Zayeed from Reading, Rayyan from Croydon and Nadeem Mughal from Slough.

This trip was mostly possible because of Dr Areeb who is based in Cardiff. His enthusiasm and hard work is exemplary for us all. Special mention to Dr Areebs family, super hosts! Br Muhammad & his wife, sister Soumaya & sister Habibah. Allah reward them all.

We engaged in a training session, two ‘Halaqahs including one at a cafe and successful street dawah. We combined forces with a local dawah team which attracted young Middle Eastern students.

I personally spoke to one young guy. He admitted that he’s not praying regularly & doesn’t care much about knowledge. Before giving him some heartfelt naseehah, I made sure we had a good laugh. I especially spoke about my strange life when I was not upon deen. Alhumdulillah, he agreed to make an effort towards Jannah.

Our brothers worked hard throughout. My favourite part of the trip has to be our new young duaat handing over the ‘Love struck’ flyers inside the cafe to couples and other Muslims! I always admire this confidence and courage. I want to see more of this!

Cardiff has potential. Some sincere local brothers, access to Cardiff University and a buzzing city centre.

To sum up this enthusiasm for dawah, one young brother quoted the ayah from Surah Imran, which he says hit him hard..

Let there be a group among you who call ˹others˺ to goodness, encourage what is good, and forbid what is evil—it is they who will be successful.

Let’s see how this team develops in the near future!
