The first Dawah Motivation Formula event in Lahore took place on June 27 at AIMS Institute Lahore. All team members worked very hard, both offline and online, to plan the event, and finally, it turned out to be a successful event. The day began with preparations, setting up the auditorium, putting up banners, and arranging tables. We set up our desk outside, placing flyers, Words of Mercy, and dates on it.
There were not many students around, so we visited the labs and informed them about our event. We also conversed with people passing by and told them about the same. Some people joined the event while others said they would come later. We introduced them to our desks and our activities.
Initially, we asked people to choose from the flyers. Most of them selected the ‘Purpose of Life’ flyer. Then we shared Words of Mercy, which many of them could connect with.
The movie day began with enthusiasm. The Dawah Motivation Lahore team had prepared three movies. The director of the first movie was Director Abu Hurraira Ansari, and its name was “Purpose of Life.” The audience’s reactions were remarkable, as many found the movie highly relatable. The film discussed the importance of finding one’s purpose in life with the moral being that a life without purpose is meaningless.
After the movie ended, there was a short interactive session where the audience shared their thoughts about the film. Our host explained how to find the purpose of life easily by taking small steps and working on one’s faith.
Then the second movie started. The second movie was titled “Al-Asr,” a short film created by LUMS’ religious society, directed by Sarim Gillani. This movie discussed signs suggesting that Allah gives signs to those who are lost. When Allah provides guidance, one should immediately strive to follow it without wasting time, so as not to go astray again. Additionally, when one starts walking on the straight path, one must also guide their friends to it.
After this movie, there was another interactive session where the host explained the significance of Surah Al-Asr. Then the third film, titled “The Barber Shop,” began. It was a production by Youth Club Films, directed by Abu Huraira Ansari. Like the first two movies, this film also conveyed an important message. It highlighted the difference between a hopeless person and the one who finds contentment in Allah’s will. The difference is the peace of the soul; a hopeful person remains happy in all circumstances, while a hopeless person complains and gives up during difficult times. The film also illustrated the ways in which gratitude can fill our lives with tranquillity.
Afterwards, there was an extensive interactive session where all participants shared their views about the movie and expressed how they enjoyed the movie day in a halal manner for the first time. They discussed the balance between faith and worldly life. Following this, our guest speaker conducted a brief session titled “Love and Lust Struck.” She explained how resisting sin brings immense rewards and how getting lost in worldly pleasures is foolish, as it only leads to harm.
Next, it was time for the feedback and refreshments. The Dawah Motivation Lahore team distributed refreshments and collected feedback on sticky notes. They then approached the principal of the AIMS Institute, informed him about the event, and sought his feedback. The principal agreed that students need motivation in today’s environment where wrong deeds and actions have become common and those doing right feel guilty. He acknowledged the fact that many students nowadays are involved in impermissible relationships. When we requested that students be allowed to visit our desk after their classes. He suggested we visit the classrooms directly. Thus, we conducted one-on-one Dawah sessions and successfully completed the movie day.
