YC Dawah mission to Germany Autumn 2024

The city which is known for Berlin is one of the few cities that is home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In addition to the famous Museumsinsel (Museum Island) and the Prussian palaces and gardens, it also includes the modernist housing estates in Berlin.

We now, under the platform of YC spent a few days here. Two events, one dawah training session and street dawah! Along with multiple meetings,this was a productive couple of days Alhumdulillah

Highlights

A few youth asking a range of questions which they don’t get a chance to ask. About life, how to seek knowledge, salaah, mixing with Non Muslims.

Other questions were about their teenage kids being influenced by clubs and party going friends.

Street dawah- An experiment

Where there’s a will there’s a way!
This was the first time these local brothers tested out street dawah. The aim was to target Muslim youth and families. We chose a busy spot next to a cash & carry. There were non Muslims as well as Muslims. Other than one elderly man shouting in German at us.. we had no issues and had a few positive productive conversations. People were surprised at this.. we made a makeshift table and placed some flyers and even recorded a small skit!

Allah has honoured me to now conducted street dawah in Denmark, Finland, Cyprus & now Germany. The wish and Duas are that when my deeds are counted on the day of reckoning, then these places on Earth will testify that me and my brothers… we called to the glory and worship of our Rabb!

Observations of Berlin

Spacious streets and pavements! Lots of space.

Millions of Kebab and donner places.. ironically we did not get to taste it ????

Long double decker buses and trains..

Over 90+ mosques! Turkish, Afghani, Pakistani, Arab, Eastern European, North Arifican Muslims are just some of the Muslims living here.

Overall if anyone wants to visit Berlin, then autumn is the best time.

From a dawah point of view, huge potential for street dawah and ‘YC style’ Halaqahs

Dawah Objectives

This was a test run. The local brothers saw our work in UK and beyond and insisted that it’s needed here. The non practising Muslim youth and families need Islam. They have questions.
I conducted dawah training which hopefully will inspire some locals to share Islam with those who need it effectively.
Through promotion of the events, a few others followers of YC in other cities of Germany have already contacted and it seems that another tour or two is inevitable.
Sister Zahra who was key in organising this will Insha’Allah build a team of volunteers and will organise low level small meet ups.

If Allah wills, just like in UK, Aus, Toronto, Finland, 1/2 cities, maybe more will be organised established and work on their communities. Mainly engage effectively with local Muslim youth but with experience the local non Muslims too.
