IBA Dawah Stall & Campus Dawah 2024
The IBA Iqra Society organized a festival where different organizations were invited to put up their stalls. Youth Club Karachi also held a stall.
It was a busy stall, and I had the chance to engage with all sorts of people.
I had a good conversation with Amoos, who told me that he was a Christian. I asked him politely if he felt comfortable with my line of questioning. We discussed using logic and common sense and delved into the nature of God. To his credit, he listened attentively. He said he would then talk to his pastor about what I had just spoken about, but I asked him to use his own rationality and logic. He was a space science student, and I told him to ponder the vastness of this universe—something he is familiar with—and think about the power of God. Can this all-powerful God be limited, dependent, and needy as humans are, including Jesus?! Reflect!
He took some flyers.
The next guy was Adarsh. He came with a Muslim friend. I saw his punk rock symbol and asked if he’s into heavy metal or punk rock. That was the initiation, and when he gave his name, I said, “That’s quite unique.” He replied that he’s a Hindu. I then asked him some questions, whether he believes in the tenets of Hinduism or just cultural practices. He said he actually believes in it, and then I probed, “Why?” He gave a very typical answer—that it makes sense to him and so on. His main issue was that whatever you feel is right, just go with that. I explained that anyone can have random feelings, but it doesn’t make them true. There are objective truths that are undeniable.
It was an interesting conversation and feisty at times, but in the end, he did say it was enlightening and enjoyed something like this for the first time. He had Muslim friends around, and I hope they continue the conversation further.
I always like to provide some confidence and something out of the box to our brothers at the stall, most of whom are not active duaat like the Islamabad street dawah boys. So randomly, I saw a guy with an ear stud. I joked, “Bro, there’s something stuck in your ear!” ????. He smiled, and then I said, “Don’t mind, bro, but you’ll look even better without that, and your Rabb will be pleased too.”
Other than the experience with the Hindu and Christian, I had to instill some confidence in the brothers around me. What I saw was quite a few guys with ear studs or earrings—yes, guys! So I called out to one bro and said, “You know, you’re a handsome guy, masha’Allah, so why the need for that stud in your ear?!” He was surprised but smiled, and I then said, “You’d look even better and manlier without it.” He just said, “Make dua for me, bro!” ????
This wasn’t my usual dawah, but I had to say something. I saw students wearing clothing and behaving in such a manner that would shock people. This is the reality, and there’s frankly not much approaching taking place yet.
And that is the beauty of these dawah stalls and campus dawah. You get an opportunity to engage with all sorts of people and beliefs.
May Allah reward the YC Karachi team and the Iqra Society of IBA for allowing us to make an effort in reviving the Ummah.

Masha Allah, good to hear that people are engaging and having conversations.
Ma sha Allah I specially liked the joke you crack about the stud in ear of the guy passing by. And also the conversations with Hindu guy and Christian were inspiring specially when you gave advice to that Christian to not to discuss it with pastor instead use your own rationality because Oneness pf Allah is in the fitrah of mankind
Amazing blog
Ma Sha Allah, may Allah accept
Tabarak Allah! As individuals in this worldly life, we have the capacity to achieve great things by ourselves. Similarly, we should also do research on the topics of religion by using our own mind because Tawheed is in the fitrah of Ibn e Adam.
If the conversation had been longer, it would have been better. I would’ve liked to hear more from them.
Can earrings be halal if they’re not good for men?
I agree. But in these stalls situations conversions are always short. If there is anything in the Quran or prophet saying something allowed then that’s fine. But here for men not allowed
Loved reading this! your way of encouraging the brothers at the stall was amazing
