April 2024 Birmingham Dawah Mission

Sometimes dawah missions can be very smooth and then other times can be hectic and chaotic.

So yes today’s May 2024 YC Dawah mission was rushed, delays, rainy & windy weather. But even with all this going on, it was supremely productive.

We had a stall in the city centre for a few hours

We held an important meeting with volunteer sisters and we also had a very good brothers meet up at a Gelato cafe near city centre.

The team that came from London consisted of Nadiem, Naheem and his son Zuhayr. All worked hard Alhumabarik.

Brother Adeel from MCHK joined us on the stall, as well local brothers Abdullah & Ahmed.

I didn’t get to do much dawah my self as much as the team but Allah gave me the opportunity to engage with a brother who was half Bengali & English, Hassan & another guy called Aqib.

Hassan had tattooes all over and when I stopped him he said straight away that he’s not religious so no point in speaking to him. I retorted that this stall and our purpose of visiting Bham was to engage mainly with those that are not interested! We spoke about life, success, death, the grave. He was listening to me keenly and took away flyers.

I then called out to a guy maybe in his 50s. He had gold teeth, chains and bangles. I made him laugh with a belated Eid Mubarak and we discussed what we had for Eid! This then led to YC and he confessed that he’s very successful financially but doesn’t practise Islam at all. At this I explained many of us didn’t practise at all and then spoke about how we can change and what steps do we need to take.

The best situation was when Adeel was speaking to a Rastafarian man and whilst having a discussion with the guy who was having none of it! when two brothers randomly approached them wearing thawbs & having Big beards. The shock for Adeel & the Rastafarian guy is that the brother said I’m a revert and I used to be a Rastafarian! He then went on to explain in detail. What was the chances of these brothers turning up in a busy city centre and turning up to this conversation!

And so Alhumdulillah, in this chaos and mess of traffic, rain and lateness, we feel somewhat satisfied then we had these fruitful conversations with all sorts of people. Who knows what victories we may gain in the akjirah because of these efforts.

We will keep doing these stalls, keep building teams and continue engaging with the youth until Allah changes the landscape and perhaps everyone in Birmingham becomes a sincere, pure slave of Allah.
