Dawah Conversation with a Hindu-Christian Couple

Written by: Dawah Motivation

I want to share a story of my conversation with a man (Hindu Background) and a woman (Christian background). They are partners, not married to each other, but stay together with some children. They both don’t practice their religions and they describe themselves as ‘taking it easy’ and ‘being spiritual.’ They came over to our home for a meal one day and when they looked around the house, they saw some books such as ‘The Divine Reality,’ ‘Reclaim Your Heart,’ ‘Muhammad by Martin Lings’ and most of all ‘Quran.’ They have known my husband for over 10 years now but they never discussed politics and religion at all.

The man began showing in the Quran and he asked me, “Do you know how to read Arabic or do you read the translation?” And I told him that my husband and I both can read it fluently and he was so impressed. He found out in the conversation that we have both been to Umrah and he kept asking questions and hows and whys and what. Eventually I said, “In order for you to understand the essence of what I am saying, you have to know the foundations i.e. why we believe what we believe.”

He was keen to know more and I touched upon the concept of Tawheed by using the Design Argument. I gave explanation of how we believe in Jesus, and why we don’t belive in Hinduism and how their used to be Idols in Ka’abah and how it ended and Islam came. We also touched upon how the message of Islam is preseved. He was listening and asking questions throughout and at the time they left, we agreed that we will pick up on this conversation the next time we meet.

I am hoping that we pick up on this conversation again and I will share Part 2 of this conversation
