Why was this event special?
Because Br Nadeem, who has been a dedicated volunteer and now a member of the Youth Club for a while now has in such a short time assembled people from different ages & backgrounds to help out put this event together. Most of these new people in Slough don’t even know YC on a deep level, they are not fans, are not even aware of our superstar speakers and podcasts.. but purely for the sake of our youth.. for the dawah, they spent weeks plannng and then putting this event together.

The event was themed the pursuit of happiness. We wanted to have a discussion on what really makes us happy. This was a chance for me to speak about ways of being happy without committing a sin. It was also as always for me to talk about Allah and why he deserves worship.

We are grateful to JMIC Slough for allowing us to use their beautiful masjid. It was kinda nostalgic for me because in the late 90s I used to attend this mosque for dawah and Halaqahs.

Around 70+ people attended. Much smaller than we expected but from the feedback and questions after the event.. it seems they have benefitted.
We had a new young volunteer film maker who recorded our event, May Allah reward him and Haider as a makeshift media team.
Many brothers and sisters donated a lot of money towards the event, huge Jzk Khair for that.
This was a first.. I’m hoping and expecting big things from this newly formed team. Already many ideas are floating my way.
Other unique features of today’s event.
Quiz

A genius idea by sister Saima, the Asst event manager. Very engaging system to have a quiz with a young audience. Sister Saima has been professionally organised throughout masha’Allah, great example of Ihsaan.
Food

May Allah reward those guys at German Doner Kebab who donated food for our event. We had delicious pizza, samosas and rolls. And for drinks.. we had

Keeping up the boycott against oppressors in Palestine ???????? and supporting local Muslim businesses.
A first YC event in this part of the world. I’m sure Insha’Allah many more to come..
